Hose Bibs and Garden Hoses
With the weather change the needs for watering the garden will be greatly reduced. Make sure that you do not leave your garden hose left hooked-up to the outside hose bib. Once freezing temperatures occur the water left within the hoses will freeze which in turn can and will break the brass and copper fittings of the outside water valves. When the water freezes the water expands where as the copper and brass fitting can not with stand the pressure. In many cases the break in the copper fittings will happen near or within the confines of the exterior wall and floor deck and will cause a major leak to occur. It is also best practice to keep hoses from freezing by storing them within the garage or basement in order to preserve them.
